The commonly used hot water systems however are the electric and gas hot water systems. Although they are the commonest hot water systems, they are quite different in how they work. Let us see how the electric hot water system differs from the gas hot water system.
Electric hot water system.
This system is also known as hot water cylinders. This system comes in options, those that heat water all day long and the off peak storage units. The off peak systems are cheap to maintain compared to the all-day systems.
The electric hot water system is just like a large version of the system used in toasters. Electricity current is used to heat the water stored in the tank directly.
However, their use is declining due to the availability of other options that are cheaper for example solar hot water systems.
Gas hot water system.
The gas hot water system are beginning to be widely used as gas prices are cheaper compared to electricity. Unlike the electricity hot water system, the gas system uses a flame from fuel to heat the water. These systems heat water when it passes through the system as it has no storage tank unlike the electric hot water system that heats water stored in the tank.
This system is however not considered safe for households. They carry the risk of cases like gas leaks and gas poisoning. This can really be fatal bearing in mind this is a system that is used to heat water for consumption and other household uses.
Since 25 percent of the total daily water use is used when hot, you really need to get it right when choosing the right hot water system. When you put these hot water systems into consideration, it is advisable to go for the electric hot water system .Even though it is expensive, at least your household is not at any risk that comes with the gas hot water system.
